Captain Jill Calder and Abbie Kenny both scored twice, to pace the Muskie girls' hockey team to a 7-0 rout of the International Falls Broncos last night at the Ice For Kids Arena.
With the win, the Muskies swept the annual two-game “Border Battle” exhibition series, after also claiming the opener by a 5-1 margin on Nov. 23 in the Falls.
Kenny potted the lone goal of the first period last night as the black-and-gold jumped out to a 1-0 lead after 17 minutes.
Calder then scored twice, while Issy Taylor also found the back of the net on Broncos' goalie Macey Marcotte to push it to a four-goal cushion heading into the third.
Kenny, Kathryn Fischer, and Piper Cross all capitalized in the final frame to round out the scoring.
Kamryn Sandelovich was solid when called upon to earn the shutout in goal for the Muskies.
Due to exams, Fort High won't see action again until Thursday, Feb. 6 when they resume NorWOSSA league play on the road, against the first-place St. Thomas Aquinas Saints (7-0-0-1) in Kenora.
The Muskies currently sit second in the league with a 5-1 record, five points back of the Saints.
