Muskie girls thump Warriors

Offence was aplenty for the Muskie girls' hockey team during their annual “Seniors Night” game here on Tuesday night.

The Muskies rode the strength of a three-goal outburst in the first period to a 7-2 rout of the Sioux Lookout Warriors in NorWOSSA action at the Ice For Kids Arena.

The team honoured graduating seniors captain Jill Calder and goalie Kamryn Sandelovich in a special ceremony before the game.

Calder scored twice while Abbie Kenny also lit the lamp to stake the Muskies (7-1) to a 3-0 lead through 20 minutes.

Calder, Kianna Antonick, and Kenny (two) then provided more goals the rest of the way to round out the scoring.

Jersey Masson garnered the win in goal over the Warriors (2-6).

The Muskies are back in action this weekend when they host the annual Scott Clendenning Memorial Showcase.

Fort High will open play tomorrow morning when they take on the Saints at 10:30 a.m. at the '52 Canadians Arena.

On Saturday, the squad will battle the Warriors at 8 a.m. before then taking on the Kenora Broncos at 12:30 p.m.

Both games will take place at “The Duke” (Couchiching Arena).

The Muskies then will wrap up play at the “Showcase” on Sunday morning when they battle Confederation College at 10 a.m. at the '52 Canadians Arena.
