Lambert, Kellar claim first feature wins

It was a night of firsts at the Emo Speedway on Saturday.

Both James Lambert of Fort Frances and Dean Kellar of Devlin were able to nab their first-ever feature wins in Borderland Racing Association action.

Lambert had six top-five finishes in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds division last season but finally tasted victory for the first time Saturday over the likes of Cody Ossachuk of Fort Frances and Wyatt Boyum of International Falls.

Mike Wilson (Devlin) was fourth while Ritchie Lapointe (Emo) rounded out the top five.

The win also vaulted Lambert into second in the points standings with 305—just three back of the current leader Tanner Williamson of the Fort (308).

Ossachuk, the defending points champ, currently sits third (302), Wilson is fourth (287), while Jason Anderson of the Fort rounds out the top five (278).

Kellar—who has Sierra Happy of Devlin ride beside him—nabbed his first checkered flag over defending champ Tylar Wilson (Fort) and Jesse Thompson (Emo).

He had two top-five finishes last season and finished eighth in the points standings.

Tanner Ulakovic (Murillo) finished fourth in Saturday's race while Raice Westover (Fort) rounded out the top five.

Kellar's win vaulted him from fifth to third spot in the points standings with 294.

Wilson remained tops with 299 while Westover sits just a point back in second (298).

Thompson is fourth (288) while Jyllian Westover rounds out the top five (275).

And in the WISSOTA Modifieds division, Gavin Paull of the Fort cruised to his first checkered flag of the season.

Brady Caul (Fort) was right behind in second while Brandon Pelepetz (Emo) nabbed third spot.

Tyler Brown (Rainy River) was fourth while Gary Wilson (Devlin) rounded out the top five.

Three-time defending champ Brody Strachan (Emo) finished first in the heat on Saturday but did not finish the feature.

Paull's win vaulted him top the top of the points leaderboard with 321—four ahead of Caul (317).

Strachan slipped down into third (298), Pelepetz sits fourth (287) while Brown rounds out the top five (286).

Racing resumes this Saturday with the “Driver Introduction Night,” with votes happening for the best appearing car.

Hot laps start at 7 p.m. with first heat going at 7:30 (weather permitting).
