Centra cruises past Manitou

The season couldn't have started any better for Centra Pipelines.

Centra improved to a league-best 2-0 with a 5-2 win over Manitou Forest Products in Borderland Soccer League men's division action Monday night.

Goal scorers were unavailable as of press time.

In the season-opener last Monday night (May 27), Centra nabbed a 3-1 win over defending champion CJ Contracting.

Lucas Koomans, Cam Gobeil, and Nico Kooistra all tallied for Centra.

Gavin Richardson and Tyler Hamm shared keeper duties.

Ian Jodoin supplied the lone goal for CJ (0-1) while Brady Meeks and Alex Gustafson shared keeper duties in taking the loss.

Manitou will square off against CJ for the first time this season on Monday night at 7 p.m. (weather permitting).

In women's division action, the second game of the season between La Place Rendez-Vous and Al's Racquet Stringing was postponed due to there being too much standing water on the field after the heavy rainfall earlier in the day Tuesday.

It will be rescheduled for later in the season.

In the season-opener last Tuesday night (May 28), Claire Sobkowicz scored twice to pace the Vous to a 6-0 romp over Al's.

Rochelle Douglas, Jennie Dyck, and Rindy Veldhuisen also bulged the twine in the lopsided win while the other marker was an own goal.

Alyssa Faragher, Tanya Mueller, Veldhuisen, and Douglas shared keeper duties for the Vous (1-0) while Phyllis Pierson allowed all six goals in taking the loss for Al's (0-1).

The two squads will square off again on Tuesday night (June 11) at 7 p.m.
