Floats sought for parade

Canada Day is coming up quickly and the Rainy River Future Development Corp. (RRFDC) is urging the public to join in the celebration by being a part of this year's July 1st parade and making it the best one yet.

The RRFDC is inviting businesses, organizations and individuals to enter a customized float. The theme of this year's parade is “True North Strong and Free.”

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1. Starting at the Sorting Gap Marina, the parade will proceed along Front Street to Armit Avenue, then head north to Church Street where it will move westward to end at the Legion.

The parade will kick off this year's festivities, and we hope to provide those watching with an entertaining, organized and successful parade," said Emma Dykstra, RRFDC tourism and events coordinator.

“If you choose to enter a float, please keep the parade theme in mind," she added. "We are excited to see your interpretation of this year's theme.”

To register a float, please contact the RRFDC at 274-9621 or email Dykstra at
