Ontario expands list of essential workers cleared to receive free child-care

 

TORONTO - RCMP officers, custodial and clerical education workers and postal staff are among the expanded list of essential workers cleared to receive free child-care while thousands of Ontario students attend school remotely in the coming weeks, the province's education minister announced Saturday.

TORONTO - A consensus appears to have developed that educating reluctant health-care workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 is better than trying to force them to get the shots.

While most of those on the pandemic front lines are eager to get their doses, a small but significant minority have indicated their opposition to mandatory vaccinations.

Decision on schools coming today as virus rates rise in children: Ford

 

TORONTO - Premier Doug Ford says the province will make an announcement later today on whether schools will reopen for many students next week.

Ford says he received new data Wednesday night that indicates COVID-19 positivity rates amongst children have been increasing.

He says that data has caused concern about the reopening of schools.
