The Muskie boys’ hockey team rebounded from a loss to Dryden in their NorWOSSA season-opener on Wednesday by winning a tournament in Morden, Man. over the weekend.
The black-and-gold kicked things off with a nail-biting 3-2 shootout win over Pembina, then followed that with a convincing 8-2 rout of their NorWOSSA rivals from Red Lake.
David Chambers tallied the winner while Kyle Herr added the insurance marker.
Jamison Shortreed earned the shutout in goal.
“The kids did really well and came to play this weekend, and that was sure nice to see,” new Muskie coach Shawn Jourdain said. “We were able to get everyone playing and they all showed up.”
The Muskies, who killed off three 5-on-3 power-play opportunities against Winkler in the final, resume NorWOSSA action tomorrow night in Kenora.
