You take your seat. The house lights go down. Then the stage lights go up and onto that stages appears international singing star John McDermott.
“tour de Fort” welcomes McDermott, along with special guest Eric Bogle, to the Townshend Theatre stage tomorrow (Nov. 11) at 7:30 p.m.
He is famous for his “Danny Boy” collection, two lovingly remembered Christmas CDs, as well as many recordings themed around war and remembrance.
He appears as one of the “Irish Tenors,” and is a star of that special on PBS.
McDermott’s Celtic-flavoured voice will capture your hearts and minds—especially during this special performance on Remembrance Day.
Joining him onstage will be Bogle, an extraordinary folk musician and songwriter with an international reputation for songs of emotion, love, and the futility of war.
Together they present an unforgettable show.
As well as being a music legend, McDermott is a great philanthropist. His charitable works include contributions to the Gainey Foundation and War Amps, as well as the McDermott House (a transitional housing and social home for veterans) and the Hope McDermott Fund.
If you want to enjoy the McDermott concert, and the rest of the “tour de Fort” 2008/09 season, you still can purchase a passport for $100 at Shoppers Drug Mart, the Fort Frances Public Library, or at the door tomorrow night, or by calling Gary at 274-3704.
