Raiders still tops

It's been a blistering start to the season for the Couchiching Raiders.

Steph Legree homered to pace the Raiders to a 25-8 blowout of the Dawson Tigers in Rainy River District Women's Fastball League action last night.

Jenn Singleton nabbed the pitching win for the Raiders, who improved to a league-best 7-0.

Alicia Anderson was saddled with the loss for Dawson (2-6).

In other games last night, Shae Smith homered to lead the Northwest Bay Beavers to a 26-2 romp over the Red Gut Babes.

Darcy Smith garnered the win for Northwest Bay (4-3) while Alyssa Windego suffered the loss for the winless Babes (0-4-2).

The Fort Frances Her-icanes picked up their second win in a row with a 12-8 decision against the Big Grassy Lynx.

Marissa Kerry earned the win for the Her-icanes (6-1) over Candace Handorgan of the Lynx (4-3).

And the Renegades improved to 7-1 with a 13-3 rout of the Fort Frances Angels.

Karma Andy picked up the win for the Renegades while Rylee Redford suffered the loss for the Angels (3-4-1).

The Manitou T-Birdies (0-7) at Fort Frances Mud Dogs (2-3-1) game was postponed and has been rescheduled for June 26.

The Sabaskong Tebinaak (1-4) had the bye.

In Rainy River District Fastball League action on Tuesday, meanwhile, the Fort Frances Braves remained unbeaten this season with a 13-4 romp over the host Barwick Blue Knights.

Jesse Tom and Brett Mann both homered while Travis Tom earned the pitching win for the Braves (6-0).

Mike Anderson and DJ Mosbeck went yard in a losing cause for Barwick (3-4) while JJ Landry was tagged with the defeat.

Windey's Warriors got back into the win column with a 12-8 win over the Sabaskong Lakers.

Marcel Pagee earned the win for the Warriors (4-3) while James Yerxa suffered the loss for the Lakers (2-5).

The Dawson Tigers rolled to a convincing 8-3 win over the Couchiching Raiders.

Kevin Gemmell picked up the win for Dawson (5-2) over Mike Jourdain of the Raiders (4-3).

Aidan Tom homered to pace the Stratton Eagles to their third-straight win in a 16-7 romp over the Northwest Bay Chieftains.

Marissa Kerry nabbed the win for Stratton (3-4).

Ben Smith clubbed two inside-the-park homers while Braden Smith suffered the loss for the winless Chieftains (0-6).

And the Sabaskong Goldeneyes picked up a 7-4 victory against the Manitou Thunderbirds.

Darryl Beacham garnered the win for the Goldeneyes (2-4) while Charles DeBungie was tagged with the loss for Manitou (2-5).

The Rainy River Royals (5-1) at Sight & Sound Wolves (4-2) game was postponed and will be rescheduled for later in the season.

Tonight's games (weather permitting) will see the Thunderbirds travel to Sabaskong to take on the Lakers, Stratton will play host to the Wolves, the Warriors will battle the Tigers in Pinewood, the Braves will welcome the Royals, the Goldeneyes will square off against the Raiders, and the Blue Knights will make the trip to Northwest bay to tangle with the Chieftains.
