Three of the four Muskie court sports teams are heading into this Friday's NorWOSSA playoffs in Dryden on a high note.

The senior and juniors girls' volleyball teams, along with the junior boys' basketball team, all came away victorious this past Thursday against the host Eagles.

The junior boys cruised to a 60-31 romp to finish with a league-best 7-1 record and earned a bye to Friday's NorWOSSA final.

Michael Vanderaa scored a team-high 19 points while Caleb Allan added 12.

The senior Muskies, meanwhile, were beaten 89-74 to finish with a 4-4 record.

Kobi Ward notched a team-high 22 while Aaron Bujold added 15 in a losing cause.

The seniors will face the Kenora Broncos in Friday's NorWOSSA semi-final for the chance to battle the Eagles in the final.

In girls' volleyball action, the seniors downed Dryden in straight sets (25-22, 25-20, and 25-15) to finish first with a 6-2 record and earn the bye to the final.

The juniors needed all five sets (16-25, 25-18, 25-22, 21-25, and 15-10) to get past the Eagles but they also finished first in NorWOSSA play at 7-1 to clinch a berth to the final.

Meanwhile, the black-and-gold and their 'B' squad both were action at the St. Patrick's tournament held Friday and Saturday in Thunder Bay.

The NorWOSSA team opened round-robin play by downing the Hammarskjold Red (Thunder Bay), St. Ignatius Falcons, and Hammarskjold Gold (Thunder Bay) all in straight sets.

Then in the round of 16, they downed the Broncos in straight sets before earning a split with Dryden Gold in the quarter-finals.

The black-and-gold then downed the host Saints in the semi-finals to set up a championship showdown against Dryden.

But it was the Eagles who prevailed in straight sets to claim gold and leave the Muskies settling for silver.

The 'B' squad opened the round-robin with a split against the Whiskey Jacks before earning a straight-sets win over the La Verendrye 'A' team.

Then they downed Churchill (Thunder Bay) in straight sets, followed by a split against the La Verendrye 'B' squad.

But the Muskies then were bounced out of the tourney in straight sets in the round of 16 to the St. Patrick's 'B' team.
