Offence was hard to come by for CJ Contracting and Centra Pipelines on Monday night.
Ian Jodoin scored early in the first half to pace first-place CJ (6-2) to a 1-0 win over second-place Centra (4-4) in Borderland Soccer League men's division action at the St. Francis Sports Field.
After neither team could find much room around each other's defence, Jodoin fired a beautiful cross that ended up curling its way to the top left corner of the net over an outstretched Tyler Hamm to give CJ the only tally it would need.
Jodoin has been a star for CJ lately, scoring three times over the last two games.
Aaron Bujold, making his first start in goal, earned the shutout win while Hamm was tagged with the loss.
It was a much better result for Centra on Thursday night.
Facing a short-handed Manitou Forest Products (3-6) squad, Centra erupted for a season-high 10 goals in a 10-1 thrashing.
It marked the sixth-straight loss for Manitou, who had begun the season with a 3-0 record.
Jamie Veldhuisen, Cam Gobeil, and Jaxon Gartzke each scored twice to pace Centra's onslaught.
Lucas Koomans, Matt Gutpell, Jace Dittaro, and Tyler Hamm all added singles.
Marlon Douglas netted the lone marker for Manitou.
Hamm earned the win while Chad Faragher suffered the loss.
Manitou will look to end its six-game slide tonight when it takes on CJ (weather permitting).
