Another title for angler

Troy Norman will look back on 2017 when it's all said and done and probably not be able to stop smiling.

The Fort Frances resident captured his second major fishing tournament of the season, teaming with Andy Carlson of Emo to win the annual “Bassin' For Bucks” event in Sioux Narrows over the weekend.

Norman, who retained the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship title with partner Jay Samsal from Kenora in July, joined forces with Carlson to reel in a three-day haul of 47.52 pounds.

Sitting in second behind Kenora's Jamie Bruce and Edwin Perrier after Day 2 on Saturday, they only managed 13.35 pounds yesterday—their lowest mark of the tourney.

But their troubles were small compared to Bruce and Perrier, who only pulled in 8.3 pounds yesterday to plummet to 14th place (43.08).

The Sioux Narrows duo of Matt Rydberg and Brian McNanney wound up finishing in second place (46.75).

Keewatin's Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson and Mike Reid were third (46.69).
