Trudy McCormick addressed seniors gathered at the Sister Kennedy Centre during the annual Senior Fair on Thursday. Organizers of the event said 88 people registered for the event and noticed more newcomers attended to gather information on health and safety concerns. There was a lot of discussion around stealing financial information and even your identity with chip scanners. McCormick said to ask local retailers if they have RFID blockers to protect bank and credit cards or even newer passports. McCormick spoke about the increasing rise in elder abuse where a family member or caregiver is taking advantage and victimizing seniors, and advised that if you are unsure how to address the issue, ask someone you trust or contact for help.
