Suspect nabbed

During the early-morning hours of today, the Rainy River District OPP responded to a complaint in Fort Frances.

A motor vehicle was entered and items were taken.

Officers arrived within minutes and due to fresh snow, they located and arrested a 38-year-old Couchiching First Nation man, who currently is in custody facing numerous charges.

Monthly men's fellowship breakfast date set

The next men's fellowship breakfast is slated for Saturday, Feb. 23 at 8 a.m. at the Emo Legion.

Brian Major of Morson will be the guest speaker this month.

Come for delicious breakfast while enjoying fellowship with old and new friends. Men and boys of all ages are welcome, with the cost being $12/person.

Nominees being sought for top senior

This is the time of year when the Township of La Vallee is asking for nominations for its “Senior of the Year” award. Residents are asked to nominate someone who they think should receive it.

The nominees has to be a resident of our township, be age 65 or older, and someone who has made our community a better place to live through volunteering their time, etc.

Air cadets heading abroad for 75th 'D-Day' anniversary

Local air cadets are embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Western Europe to participate in the 75th anniversary celebration of “D-Day” on Juno Beach later this spring.

From May 31-June 9, the cadets participating in the trip will explore the history of both world wars as they travel from Amsterdam to Paris on the “Road to Liberation.”
