Two impaired drivers nabbed

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday, officers from the Rainy River District detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of George Road.

As a result of the collision investigation a young driver aged 17 was charged criminally with Operate Conveyance with 80 or more milligrams of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

He will appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. to answer to this charge.

The driver was also issued a provincial offence notice for Novice Driver, Blood Alcohol Concentration more than zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

In related news, shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, officers from the Rainy River District detachment of the OPP were contacted by officers from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) at the Fort Frances Port of entry.

CBSA officers had conducted a roadside sobriety test with an approved screening device.

The female driver performed poorly.

OPP officers as well as an officer from Treaty Three Police Service continued the investigation and as a result a 52-year-old Frederic, Wis. woman was charged criminally with Operate Conveyance with 80 or more milligrams of alcohol in 100 ml of blood and Operate Conveyance while impaired by drug or alcohol.

She will appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. to answer to this charge.

The OPP is committed to safety for all who utilize Ontario's roadways.
