The Northwest Catholic District School Board will holding its next regular monthly meeting tonight.
As part of the portion of the meeting open to the public, the board will discuss a number of items.
Among those is a newsletter to be distributed to parents on the importance of children getting enough sleep.
It highlights some of the negative consequences of lack of sleep, as well as provides parents with helpful tips to promote healthy sleeping habits.
As well, the board will receive an update on progress of the new consolidated school under construction near the St. Francis School grounds.
Ground was broken on the project in August and it currently is scheduled to be open in time for the 2019-20 school year.
Also on the agenda tonight is the board's monthly “Recognition of Excellence,” which is being awarded to Katrina Fulton.
She is a kindergarten teacher at St. Patrick's School in Atikokan who is being recognized for her creativity in teaching, as well as her commitment to the school through the organization of various events and activities.
The board also will receive reports from its school council meetings and advisory committees, as well as updates on kindergarten registration, revised rules for recognition awards for board employees and trustees, and the 2018-19 budget.
The board then will move to its in-camera session.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. and will be held via videoconference at the board office here.
