Nominees being sought for top senior

This is the time of year when the Township of La Vallee is asking for nominations for its “Senior of the Year” award. Residents are asked to nominate someone who they think should receive it.

The nominees has to be a resident of our township, be age 65 or older, and someone who has made our community a better place to live through volunteering their time, etc.

Firefighters able to extinguish blaze

Back on Jan. 17, volunteer firefighters from La Vallee and Emo responded to a blaze on Wasaw Road in which a chimney fire at a residence spread to the attic.

Fortunately, it was extinguished quickly using a transitional attack using dry chemicals.

Fire Chief Josh Collins was grateful for all the volunteers that responded and the efficient way the fire was put out.
