One new fire reported

There was one new forest fire confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.

Nipigon fire #9 has been declared out at 0.1 hectares and was located near Keemle Lake, approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Nipigon.

There are currently 16 active fires in the region. Four fires are not under control, two fires are under control, and ten fires are being observed.

More new fires start in north

There were five new forest fires confirmed in the region by yesterday afternoon.

Nipigon fire #8 is being held at 0.1 hectares in size and is located near Fog Lake, approximately 22 kilometres west of Nipigon

Red Lake fire #50 is not under control at 0.1 ha. and is located near Meddick Lake, approximately 16 km south of Deer Lake First Nation.

New fires over weekend

There were three new forest fires confirmed in the region by yesterday afternoon.

Red Lake fire #42 has been declared out at 0.1 hectares in size. It was located in Pikangikum First Nation.

Red Lake fire #43 is not under control at three ha. and is located near Trough Lake, approximately 39 kilometres northwest of Red Lake.

Four new fires reported

There were four new forest fires confirmed in the region by the late afternoon yesterday.

Fort Frances fire #7 is under control at 0.1 hectares and is located on an island on Rainy Lake.

Dryden fire #9 is not under control at 0.3 ha. and is located near Eagle Lake, approximately 28 kilometres southwest of Dryden

Fire hazard holding steady

The forest fire hazard ranges from moderate to high throughout the Northwest Region, with some areas near Red Lake showing an extreme hazard.

No new fires were discovered yesterday.

At the time of this update, there were 12 active fires in the region: two of which were not under control, two were being held, four were under control and four were being observed.

Fire hazard low to moderate

The forest fire hazard is currently low to moderate in the Northeast Region, with the exception of Greenstone sector which presents a high hazard in some areas.

There were no new fires in the Northwest region yesterday.

There are four active fires in the Northwest Region at the time of this report; none of them are in the Fort Frances sector.

Six new fires over weekend

There were six new forest fires in the Northwest Region by the late afternoon yesterday.

At the time of this update there were four active fires in the region, one of which is not under control.

Dryden fire #6 is a 0.1 hectare fire located off McGogy Road, approximately five kilometres north of Dryden. The fire is under control.

Fire hazard rising across region

The forest fire hazard has risen to be high to extreme across most of the region with an area of moderate hazard in Nipigon and northern Sioux Lookout district.

There were four new forest fires confirmed by yesterday afternoon.

Red Lake fire #12 is not under control at 20 hectares and is located near Hansen Lake, approximately 53 kilometres west of Red Lake.
