“Holly Daze” festivities go Friday and Saturday (Nov. 30-Dec. 1) in Emo. See page C1 of Wednesday's Times for a schedule of events.

The Legion Ladies' Auxiliary will hold its monthly supper—featuring a turkey dinner and all the fixings—on Friday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion (doors open at 4:30). There also will be a 50/50 draw. Admission is $16/person, with take-outs available by calling 274-3772.

A family Christmas party will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 from 2-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library. There will be games, stories, crafts, and a sing-a-long, as well as free family photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

A seniors' dance, featuring the toe-tapping music of Bob Wepruk and George Elliott, will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Fort Frances Senior Centre (Sister Kennedy Centre). Admission is free and all aged 55+ are welcome!

The “Spirit of Christmas,” a silent auction featuring a wide array of arts and crafts, handcrafted holiday decorations, and gift ideas, will be held Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. in the Copper River Inn ballroom, with admission being $5. There also will be a door prize, penny table, and a gently-used table, as well as a cash bar and complimentary dainties, coffee, and hot chocolate. The Borderland Community Orchestra presents a “Holiday Concert” on Sunday, Dec. 2 starting at 2 p.m. at the Backus Community Center in International Falls. Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for students, with pre-kindergarten children being free. Tickets are available at Betty's in Fort Frances, as well as Backus and City Drug in the Falls.

The Rainy River Hospital Auxiliary will hold a Christmas bazaar on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 2-4 p.m. at the Rainy River Legion (319 Fourth St.)

The annual Christmas parade, entitled “Christmas at the Movies,” will be held Sunday, Dec. 2 starting at 3 p.m., with the route following Scott Street from Reid Avenue to Mowat Avenue. The parade will be preceded by free photos with Santa and hot chocolate from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rainy Lake Square. The Muskie boys' hockey team will host the Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 4:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for students, with those under 12 being free.

The new Fort Frances town council will be sworn in on Monday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre.

The Muskie boys' hockey team will host Baudette in exhibition action on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for students, with those under 12 being free. It also is the squad's annual “Teddy Bear Toss.”

“Squires & Young Dragons: Dungeons and Dragons for Beginners” will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the children's department at the Fort Frances Public Library. No experience required.

A candlelight service in observance of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. at Knox United Church. Refreshments to follow. Everyone is welcome to attend.

“Just for Laughs,” a comedy variety show presented by Owl Theatre, will be performed Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Rainy River High School. Admission is a free-will offering.

The ninth-annual “Stuff-a-Cruiser” campaign will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Safeway, The Place, and Walmart in Fort Frances, Cloverleaf Grocery in Emo, and Beaver Mills Market in Rainy River.

The Fort Frances Choraliers will perform this year's Christmas cantata, “Good News from Home,” on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls. Admission is a free-will offering.

The La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary will hold its Christmas luncheon on Monday, Dec. 10 at noon at Knox United Church. Tickets cost $15, which are available at Shoppers, Pharmasave, and the hospital gift shop until 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 (no late sales).

The Fort Frances Choraliers will stage a second performance of this year's Christmas cantata, “Good News from Home,” on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre. A bake sale will follow to defray costs. Admission is a free-will offering.

“Holiday Melodies,” a free performance by the Rainy Lake Orchestra, will take place Monday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library. Donations for the Salvation Army's food bank are welcome.
