The Legion Ladies' Auxiliary will hold its monthly supper—featuring a turkey dinner and all the fixings—on Friday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion (doors open at 4:30). There also will be a 50/50 draw. Admission is $16/person, with take-outs available by calling 274-3772.
A family Christmas party will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 from 2-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library. There will be games, stories, crafts, and a sing-a-long, as well as free family photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
A seniors' dance, featuring the toe-tapping music of Bob Wepruk and George Elliott, will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Fort Frances Senior Centre (Sister Kennedy Centre). Admission is free and all aged 55+ are welcome!
The “Spirit of Christmas,” a silent auction featuring a wide array of arts and crafts, handcrafted holiday decorations, and gift ideas, will be held Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. in the Copper River Inn ballroom, with admission being $5. There also will be a door prize, penny table, and a gently-used table, as well as a cash bar and complimentary dainties, coffee, and hot chocolate. The Borderland Community Orchestra presents a “Holiday Concert” on Sunday, Dec. 2 starting at 2 p.m. at the Backus Community Center in International Falls. Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for students, with pre-kindergarten children being free. Tickets are available at Betty's in Fort Frances, as well as Backus and City Drug in the Falls.
The Rainy River Hospital Auxiliary will hold a Christmas bazaar on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 2-4 p.m. at the Rainy River Legion (319 Fourth St.)
The annual Christmas parade, entitled “Christmas at the Movies,” will be held Sunday, Dec. 2 starting at 3 p.m., with the route following Scott Street from Reid Avenue to Mowat Avenue. The parade will be preceded by free photos with Santa and hot chocolate from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rainy Lake Square. “Just for Laughs,” a comedy variety show presented by Owl Theatre, will be performed Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Rainy River High School. Admission is a free-will offering.
The ninth-annual “Stuff-a-Cruiser” campaign will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Safeway, The Place, and Walmart in Fort Frances, Cloverleaf Grocery in Emo, and Beaver Mills Market in Rainy River.
